During my 30 years of practice, I have met some wonderful people, both patients and colleagues. I have been able to make a difference in their lives, and in turn they have made a difference in mine. I have cultivated some friendships that are important beyond the status of someone’s teeth.
There are many times when I get home and smile about what occurred at work that day. Maybe a case turned out well or a patient said something that compliments me or my staff. Maybe it is something that someone did or said that was funny. My hope would be that our patients will think of our office and smile as well.
I am passionate about the personal relationships I have with my patients, which is why their experience in our office is so important — not only to me, but to my staff as well. We try to educate patients about their oral health, to give them choice and control in their care. As an office, we are not here to tell people what they should do; we are here to assist them in arriving at a state of health that is comfortable for them.
Education and Continuing Education
- Bachelor of Science in Zoology – Washington State University
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Washington
My commitment to knowledge and learning did not stop with my formal education. Over the past 25 years, I have been involved with numerous study clubs that focus on all aspects of dentistry, from cosmetics to advanced restorative procedures and materials. I choose to continue my education, not only to have the opportunity to exchange ideas with my peers, but to improve my patients’ overall dental experience.
A great many of our patients have been seeing the same faces and receiving care from the same staff for many years. This provides a continuity of care not often found in health care today. Our patients know that we truly care for them, and when they in are in our office they are our focus — they have our attention.
Outside the Office
A native of Tacoma, Washington, I have lived in Fircrest for the past 27 years. My wife, Becky, and I have a son, Brett, and a variety of pets that keep us occupied at home. My free time is spent keeping fit, including running, waterskiing, and snow skiing. I also enjoy listening to music, supporting our local high school sports teams, fishing, and camping with friends and family. I am also an active member of my church. Find me on Google+!
