What to do in an emergency?

Most bitten lips/tongues will heal very well on their own. If bleeding or swelling does not stop with pressure or and ice, a quick assessment by our team would help to determine whether or not any additional treatment is required.
Remove object gently with dental floss. If you are unable to dislodge the object, call our office.
Fillings or crowns can usually be done the same day to fix broken, chipped, or fractured teeth. X-rays will help to determine the severity of the damage and if the root canal system of the tooth is involved, which may require additional treatment.

If a tooth is knocked out, visit our Puyallup dental office as soon as possible. The likelihood of success is much higher if treated within one hour (ideally within the first 15 minutes of being knocked out). The best household items to store the tooth in until you can get to our team office are (in order of best to worst): (1) milk, (2) saline, (3) saliva, (4) water.

Toothaches occur due to a variety of causes. A thorough exam and X-rays can help determine the cause of a toothache and the treatment recommended to resolve it.
